Wonderful food! I had the eggplant stirfry with scallops, savory, plenty of spice, a touch of sweet, a great complex flavor.
Ban Mai is THE best Thai food in Grants Pass! Hands down! The people here are super friendly and the food is so FLAVORFUL!!! My favorites to order both in and out are the yellow curry (spice level 10/3), the Thai margarita EXTRA spicy, the salad rolls, the rib eye salad and the curry fried rice!! 🤤🌶🌶🌶 …
The people are fantastic, the food is authentic and incredibly tasty! The place is a bit awkward. I prefer to take my food home from Ban Mai. The service is totally top notch when I do dine in. I have never been disappointed with any order and I have been there countless times for take out and dine in with my kids. They are always eager to tweak orders for individual customers that have food alergies or restrictions. 100% the best Thai in Grants Pass.
Food was great! Love my Gluten Free, Vegan option. The workers were very friendly and nice. Would definitely recommend this place if you stop in town.
Rude customer service, took forever to get even a glass of water. Seated at a table that wasn't ready. Didn't offer refills until 30 min after first round of water. Looked at us and ignored us the rest of the time. The young woman at least made an effort, the man was rude the whole time. The food was good but made me sick and have been since last night after eating. The Atmosphere was super beautiful until rude customers and customer service killed it. We will never be back..
Because it's not listed below, we got the sweet and sour chicken , spring rolls and chow mien dish.
Trust me don't waste your money or your time.
I've been here numerous times & this by far, hands down was the worst most unpleasant time. It was later in the evening, so maybe the blond server was tired, although he seemed to be just fine & polite to everyone else other than the gentleman that had been waiting he said 20 minutes at the bar waiting for him to take his order. The guy had to get up & ask the blond server if he could place his order, to which the guys & I were both a little taken back by the snappy attitude he was given in response. Then when I was finally helped, with taking my order, the blond server asked that I pay my bill an order for him to put my order in, but with the gentleman before me that was getting a order to go as well he didn't require him pay his bill so that he could place his order, nor did the other lady getting a to go order, nor the 3 tables that were seated & eating there. Everyone that order their food a few minutes before me or at the same time as me they all got their food within 20 to 30 minutes & the lady that order her food after I ordered mine, & ordered more food than I did received her food before I received mine & in less than 30 minutes.
When the cooks were finished cooking my food, they rang the bell to inform the server that it was finished & the server did not respond due to him talking to the other server & a customer. A few minutes later, the cooks rang the bell yet again, but this time they hit the bell with more passion & over & over again to which, when the other server went in, grabbed my order. When she came & gave me my food, she placed it in front of me said here your order & turned & walked away, not saying a word other than "no cilantro." So I looked inside & I had ordered an order of white rice which wasn't there. So I asked him for my order of rice. He came looked to see if it was in the bag, which then he went to get it. As he walked away, I asked if I could please have utensils, napkins, & soy sauce & I guess he didn't hear me because he only came back with my rice. Put it in my bag & walked away.
If I ever go back there again I WILL refuse to pay before I receive my food in hand because then he might be more inclined to earn his tip instead of me already giving him his tip, so then he feels he can be rude & not do his job properly.
I guess it was too much to ask of him to take my order & then after the chefs cooked it, packaged it up, than put into the bag, all he had to do was to put the container of rice that I'd ordered, & some napkins, utensils, & soy sauces into the bag was asking far too much for the $5.00 tip that I'd already given before my order was allowed to be placed.
So the food might have been good. However, if the service sucks then why would I not only waste my time but also spend my hard earned money to be treated that way? I wouldn't care if the food was darn near free or even free to be treated. That way is totally unacceptable.
Update: I have been coming here for over 6 years now, and I don't really have any updates, because it's still just as awesome!
Very good, as in awesome, food. …
We loved Ban Mai until our meal this evening. We ordered the yellow chicken curry which has been a beloved meal of ours. We specialty order it with no carrots and add more chicken (there chicken has always been a little light). It would run about $13 for this dinner which is fair. This evening we went in and the portion sizes are 1/2 the size and they charged us $18.50 for the meal. $4 was added for the extra chicken. When I opened the containers it doesn't even appear that more chicken was added. I understand prices everywhere are going up, but I can assure you this meal is not worth the $18.50. Also, when you charge people $4 more for chicken, please put it in the order! As you can see from the pictures, the chicken is very thin and small and it's the usual amount in the order. Super bummed!
After waiting 20 mins we got up and got our own menus. Another 20 mins a server came to us. There were only 3-4 other tables.
The food came somewhat normal speed. …
I enjoyed a delicious meal here last night. But my order was not correct I politely pointed that out and the effort to rectify that was half-hearted. No big deal, but, when the check came it was also not correct. Rather than fix it, the …
